A one-of-a-kind instrument, this custom A-odyssey is about
as unique as they come. A traditional A-Odyssey cutaway body, the top is made
of highly figured curly maple while the back and sides are finish birch
laminate. With a natural top, the sides are stained black, and the back has a
custom book-matched camphor burl veneer back. The top curly maple matches
the curly maple peghead veneer while in the order of symmetry the camphor burl
back matches a camphor burl peghead veneer on the back of the peghead. It comes
with curly maple binding, but the real crowning jewel of this guitar is the
custom sunrise fretboard. Made by world renown Pearl Works, this sunrise
fretboard is made of reconstituted stone, paua, abalone. Featured in the Pheonix
Musical Instrument Museum, this fretboard is one of a kind.
Internally, this A-Odyssey comes with an Original #14
Spider, Legend cone, a bass reflex baffle, and the signatures of all the Beard
Guitar shop employees. Comes equipped with a resolution black solar coverplate
and Waverly tuners. The neck is a 14 fret neck, with custom internal carbon
fiber rods, a 25” scale length, and a 1 3/4" bone nut spaced at 7.75mm.
The sound of this instrument is as unique as the build: the bass reflex baffle produces a tight/defined bass, the spider bridge resonator system has tons of sustain, and the conjunction of the body shape and wood creates a silvery tone. All together it produces a sound perfect for slide or fingerstyle playing.
